Visit Death Valley


Do not let the name scare you as it does not describe at all what you will find in this wide expanse of desert. Death Valley is best described by its geology, landscape and its extremes. The landscape in Death Valley is beautiful and it stretches for miles and miles of golden sand with the occasional display of earth’s ingenuity in its geological exhibits.
The temperature in this place reaches extremes in the summer, but during the month of November, the temperatures are at their best and any tourist who would like to see the splendour of the various geological eras that are present in Death Valley should make their way to this southernmost part of California during this time of the year.

Death Valley does have life in the form of various species of birds and reptiles as well as mammals. The permanent water bodies in Death Valley also house several species of fish. The airport nearest to Death Valley is in Las Vegas in the state of Nevada therefore a visitor can arrive to this place by plane. Entry into the park is affordable and one can travel around the park by car or by bike in the months of spring and fall. There are lodgings around the park but a traveller in need of greater comfort could try holiday rentals in places such as Shoshone which is an hour’s drive from the park.

There are a lot of things that a traveller can do in Death Valley from hiking to cycling. The area is cloudless and the air has a certain clarity that makes death valley the ideal place for stargazing, especially during the new moon. For the adventurous individuals, one of the toughest races in the world is held here in the month of July when the sun is most unforgiving. The scenery is beautiful as it has geological exhibits that will keep you flashing your camera as you capture the formations and the landscape. During spring, the area has a variety of wildflowers that are a truly beautiful sight, but it is best to take photos with the dim light of the setting and rising sun as the midday sun tends to wash out most pictures. After an exciting day full of fun and adventure, a well-deserved rest can be found in the inns around the park or in holiday rentals a bit further south east in California.

There is a lot to see in Death Valley, from the coloured rocks near furnace creek to Scotty’s castle. Death Valley gives visitors a slice of the bizarre in Devil’s golf course as well as a taste of the interesting in the Darwin Falls. The valley has several canyons as well as sand dunes that are a sight to behold. There is so much to see and do in Death Valley, and sometimes one may need more than a day to completely explore this grounds. After a long day, rest is assured in the nearby inns or in holidayrentals in the nearby towns of Lone Pine and Shoshone where one can get a good night’s rest in preparation for another day of sight-seeing and adventure.
